This painting of ‘Harriet’ the famous Galapagos tortoise owned by Steve and Terri Irwin of Australia Zoo is totally unique. Harriet was not always happy about me painting her, as I often received more attention than her at the zoo, so she made her displeasure known. She died at the age of 175 years approximately. Originally collected by Charles Darwin during his 1835 visit to the Galapagos Islands she finally ended up in Australia it is believed in 1841. This painting is framed in a thick gold frame.
