Pensiamo a Domani, Domani

Pensiamo a domani, domani. We will think about tomorrow, tomorrow. Which is exactly the right sentiment for this family, and exactly how they live.

They are on the Gold Coast, part Italian, and back to Italy often. They love good food, they love the beach, and they love a family get together. So that is where I put them, all around one table with the plates full and the glasses going.

It started with a small print. His wife saw one hanging in somebody's house, loved it, and he remembered.

This was a Christmas present, and a complete surprise for her. Her husband gave me everything I needed: the clothes, the tattoos, the jewellery, the hair, the food they actually eat, and of course the family dog, who was never going to be left out.

Every one of those little details is in there. That is what makes a painting theirs rather than just a painting of four people at a table.
